Portuguese Ambassador
The Boston Tax Help Coalition is entering its 17th year of providing free tax preparation to low and moderate-income taxpayers and increasing Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) awareness to the community. The EITC is a federal and state tax credit that can return up to $7,710 to qualified taxpayers. The 2017 Tax Campaign served over 13,000 households and returned $26.78 million dollars in refunds to taxpayers. The Ambassadors have a “key leadership role” in the Coalition. Ambassadors educate their community, including people with disabilities, about the EITC and free tax preparation by providing outreach at organizations, churches, community businesses, ESOL classes, etc. Ambassadors serve as intake staff (translating), Financial Guides, and/or as tax preparers at their assigned tax site(s). Ambassadors are required to speak to the media, go on the radio, and implement media outreach.
